The South Beach area is part of the larger city of Miami Beach and is comprised of all the barrier islands that are located south of the Indian Creek waterway. Its popularity increased dramatically after it was featured prominently in the 1980s television show Miami Vice. Today the neighborhood is recognized as one of the most valuable, prosperous and wealthy areas in South Florida and is frequently used as a filming location for many films. Besides the beachfront South Beach is also singled out for its rich Art Deco design.
South Beach real estate features a mix of homes that are often by the water as well as South Beach condos like Apogee and the Continuum buildings which are both part of the area referred to as South Pointe or South of Fifth.
